Bodyboarders Surf Co Closes Down For Good

By kieran Webber

Staff were notified last week that all three of BSC’s stores and its online shop would no longer be open for business.

It marks the end of an era for Bodyboarders Surf Co, which was one of Australia’s largest and longest running bodyboard-specific stores, it was also world renown for its brand and catalogue of riders which included Dave Winchester and Joe Clarke (to name a few).

Established by dedicated bodyboarder Mick Parkhill and his wife Carina in Narrabeen in 1998 as the country’s first bodyboard-only store, the company expanded to three stores nationally with the Narrabeen store being joined by BSC Coolangatta and the Bodyboard Factory in Burleigh Heads.

This is yet another dent in the already very fragile bodyboard industries armor and could have an effect to the industry as a whole.

Despite the closure, both BSC sponsored clubs, the Gold Coast Bodyboard Club and Sydney Bodyboard Club will remain in operation.
