Rating: 7.5/10

The Virginmarys come charging with their second full LP ‘Divides’ the follow up from their critically acclaimed debut ‘King Of Conflict’. The band have not held back in the second release nor let the pressure dampen their resolve or sound, ‘Divides’ is a thunderous, raw rock album that will blow your fucking door down.

Opening with the percussive ‘Push The Pedal’ a track driven forward by a heavy bass and gritty vocals from Ally Dickaty followed by ‘For You My Love’ the fist pumping, 80’s metal inspired anthem. ‘Halo In Her Silhouette’ comes through with one of the largest and infectious riffs I have ever heard, creating an imposing impression on the listener, this is all in the first three tracks.

A confident angst is heard through this whole album and a level of swagger that some bands could never achieve, ‘I Wanna Take You Home’ is a sultry hook laden number that acts a pure example of The Virginmarys raw, unapologetic attitude.

The Macclesfield noise bandits have come back and proven that they are a force to be reckoned with, their second LP is a barrage screeching vocals, heavy percussion and riffs that could melt steel all wrapped into one beautiful bundle.
