Adam Betts Announces Debut Album ‘Colossal Squid’ & Shares Mind Blowing Video For ‘Drumbones’

Words: Kieran Webber | Image: Jo Bongard

We live in a very innovative time and we are more connected than ever, so it is increasingly hard to discover something you haven’t witnessed or heard before. Especially in music as much has already been done and it is increasingly hard to be ‘original.’

However, Adam Betts is one of the few artists around today doing something unique and different. The percussive wizard is combining his love for the irregularities in eliectronic music (by the likes of Aphex Twin, Autechre and more recently Arca and Oneohtrix Point Never) with his visceral connection to live drums.

As a member of Brian Eno’s favourite London experimentalists Three Trapped Tigers, Betts has spent years exploring the boundaries between electronic and live music, and celebrating the flaws thrown up when one tries to replicate the other.

His exploration has lead to the creation of his debut album ‘Colossal squid’ set for release 25th November via Blood and Biscuits. Betts has also shared ‘Drumbones’ the opening track from the forthcoming album, it is a chaotic mix of electronic beats and thumping percussion.
