UK Hip Hop has been taking an interesting direction of late by moving into a somewhat psychedelic atmosphere, for example Fliptrix‘ latest release ‘Patterns Of Escapism’ moves into an interesting ethereal realm. Although UK Hip Hip could be getting trippier it still carries the same punch that it has done in the past, the lyrical content is still on of reflection of youth, politics, current affairs and social commentary.

Strange U, the collaborative project of hip hop veterans King Kashmere and Zygote (aka The Maghreban) continues this tripped out hip hop and do it in a way that is admirable.

Their debut full length ‘#LP4080’ is a unique, far out lo-fi hip hop adventure that is layered in a deep yet tongue in cheek collection of monstrous beats backed by impeccable flow, It’s clear the duo don’t take themselves too seriosly which creates an aura of hilarity. From the head bopping onslaught of ‘Terminator Funk’ to the self depreciation of ‘Waste Of Space’ you are in for a real treat.
