The Great Estate Festival often marks the beginning of festival season for us here in Cornwall. It’s the first frolly under the warm Cornish sun, cider is flowing and music is playing, it’s one of our favourite times of year.
The Great Estate Festival will always have a special place in our hearts, they were one of the first to give us a chance. The Scorrior manor is one the most unique locations for a festival and the atmosphere is angelic. This year it’s set to be another fantastic event with great live music, rambunctious goings on and general good vibes. We cannot wait!
As always our focus is the music and this year there is lots to feast upon, here are our five acts we cannot wait to see!
Haunt The Woods – Main Stage – Saturday

Haunt The Woods have spent the last few years wowing audiences across Cornwall and the south-west, becoming known for their mighty live performances. The band carry a huge presence with emotionally driven prog-rock and spellbinding vocals. With each performance they grow in strength and their set at The Great Estate should be a blinder.
Plastic Mermaids – Main Stage – Saturday

Those of you that read CLUNK regularly would of seen our interview with the talented chaps from Isle Of Wight. They’re a great bunch whom have been causing a bit of a stir since the release of their debut album ‘Suddenly Everyone Explodes’. Their experimental and DIY approach to music makes them a must see at Great Estate, expect psychedelic-pop tangents and ethereal vocals.
Hypophora – BBC Introducing Stage – Saturday

Arguably one of Cornwall’s hardest working and dedicated bands, Hypophora. Prepare yourself to get smashed in the face with a barrage of riffs, funk riddled bass and powerful female driven vocals. 2018 was an incredibly successful year which saw them tour with Toska and supported Black Peaks and Arcane Roots. Not to mention their phenomenal debut release ‘Douse’. Its looking like 2019 is shaping up to be just as crazy for the rising band, seeing them at Great Estate is going to be a rare and special treat.
The Velvet Hands – BBC Introducing Stage – Saturday

The Velvet Hands have fast become Cornwall’s favourite indie-punks thanks to their energetic live performances. This hasn’t gone unnoticed as this year they are supporting Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher. It may be one of the last chances to see The Velvet Hands in such a quaint environment. Prepare yourselves for explosive, unrelenting energy that is remiscent of The Buzzcocks.
Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show – Main Stage – Sunday

It goes without saying that we are VERY excited to see Craig Charles at The Great Estate Festival again. Every year he brings a delightful platter of funk and soul for us all to delve into. Get ready to boogie to a brilliant selection of timeless classics.
