Indie legends Bloc Party Announce Their New Album ‘Alpha Games’, Their Sixth Studio Album

One of the worlds most prestigious and renowned indie outfits Bloc Party have today announced news of their sixth studio album ‘Alpha Games’ (out April 26th), following on from their 2016 release ‘Hymns’. In addition to this the band have also shared the first single ‘Traps’, a firecracker of a record that is relentless in its energy. Similarly to their earlier releases such as ‘Helicopter’.

‘Traps’ starts with a whirlwind guitar that cascades throughout the track, creating a real sense of momentum. As the track builds lead singer/frontman Kele Okereke’s recognisable vocals breeze through. Instantly it’s a hit of nostalgia of the 2000’s indie era, yet it’s still an incredibly fresh sound.

Speaking on the single Kele explains: “From the moment we wrote ‘Traps’, we knew it had to be the first thing people heard from this album; playing it in soundchecks on our last tour before it was finished and hearing how it sounded in those big rooms and outdoors.”

‘Alpha Games‘ is set for release April 29th via Infectious/BMG and was produced by Nick Launay and Adam Greenspan (Nick Cave, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, IDLES). You can pre-order ‘Alpha Games’ here.
