The Welsh rock band Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard has come out in glaring fashion with their hip swinging, swaggering new single ‘John Lennon Is My Jesus Christ’.

Matching the bands aesthetic it’s a retrospective sound that is reminiscent of the golden era of the 70’s. It’s a throwback to a time of amazing music and is done so in an infectious fashion. You cannot help but be spellbound by the bands tongue in cheek, T-Rex sounding rock. If Marc Bolan was alive this may be his new favourite band.

Speaking on the track frontman and guitarist Tom Rees explains that “‘John Lennon Is My Jesus Christ’ started as a bit of fun more than anything.” He continues; “It developed into a conversation around idolisation, and how fandom, servitude and dedication to a certain character is universal, and not limited to any particular religion or art form.

I thought it was interesting to explore ideas around idolisation in an instance where the subject being idolised isn’t a good person, which is certainly the case for John Lennon – it was a provocation of my own idolisation of John, in the knowledge that he was truly an awful and wrathful person in reality.”
