WAXX formed in 2016 and have been vital to the growth of the Cornish music scene. With Lee ‘Pixie’ Matthews on bass guitar and Bubs Taylor on drums they produce an energetic alternative indie rock sound with punk aspects woven through.
Taking influence from the likes of The Smashing Pumpkins, David Bowie, Beastie Boys and Deftones they create pure unrelenting energy, entirely irresistible to get moving to. The duo are based in Truro and are popular across the (pre-covid) gig scene, playing with other local artists like The Rezner and Half Kut. In addition to playing many gigs, they have been lucky to play at an array of festivals like: Leopallooza, Boardmasters, Reading Fest, Great Escape and even alongside bigger artists like Sum 41 at Tunes in the Castle. These two have also been greatly supported by BBC introducing, playing them on several occasions. In a brief conversation they stated their favourite gig locations had to be Leopallooza and SXSW.
If you have been lucky enough to see them live then you will understand just how much fun these guys are live. There’s a reason crowds go mental for them.
As well as rocking the live scene, they have made several releases that have received lots of adoration from their fans. Their first album, ‘Supersonic Antidote Pop’ (2018) and their two singles ‘Almost Summer’ (2019) and ‘Sad Machines’ (2019), each making glorious noise in their own vibrant way.
