Glasgow quartet Declan Welsh & The Decadent West unleash the first single ahead of their long-awaited second album

Glasgow indie-punks Declan Welsh and The Decadent West have finally announced their sophomore record, following 2019’s â€˜Cheaply Bought, Expensively Sold’. This new album, â€˜2’, will be arriving September 2nd and is teased by the new single â€˜King of My Head’.

This new track from the Scottish rockers is a melting pot of sounds, a band clearly experimenting with their aesthetics for the second LP. â€˜King of My Head’ has a steady groove for the foundation, with noir-tinged guitars and charismatic vocals spiralling between the speakers. There’s a woozy, hazy energy to the track while the climaxes still remain reserved and grounded – but still with a sharp edge.

‘King of My Head’ is a bold change in pace and timbre from the more riotous sonics of their debut record. It is a band maturing, refining and clearly striving to take steps in the right direction on the universally dreaded sophomore record. And, without a doubt, Declan Welsh and The Decadent West are making those steps.

‘2’ is out September 22nd, via Frictionless Music.
