Post-Rock band Explosions In The Sky announce new album ‘End‘ alongside cinematic new single ‘Ten Billion People’

For fans of Explosions In The Sky, the wait since their last full album has been a long one. Now, 7 years after their 2016 LP ‘The Wilderness’ the post-rock group finally return with their brand new album ‘End’.

It promises to meld the “quiet restraint and crushing weight of their early recordings with the aural exploration and ornate experimentation of their later works” while incorporating their film score work too. Conceptually, the album focuses on endings, whether this is a death, a breakup or the end of a friendship.

The first single is the opening track ‘Ten Billion People’. The track has such an epic feel to it and teases a cinematic, dramatic and emotional return for the band. Immediately, we are hit with satisfying rhythms, and arpeggiating instrumentation. As the best post-rock does, different textures slowly build upon each other, creating a tense build up and eventual release.

A fully instrumental track at 6 1/2 minutes might sound like a slog but the band’s mastery of timing, tone and pacing make it a journey you won’t mind revisiting. Explosions In The Sky have complete control over their sound and they sound as confident as ever.

‘End’ is out on 15th September via Bella Union.
