The Bristol post-punk band IDLES recently dropped their third single ‘A Hymn’, taken from their forthcoming album ‘Ultra Mono’ (out September 25th via Partisan Records).

The latest release a more sombre and brooding take on their sound, remiscent of the bands earlier releases. Lyrically it offers a bleak insight into life in British suburbia. A dark, grey soundscape fills the track and accompanying visuals represent the mundane. After two up-beat, high tempo releases ‘A Hymn’ represents the bands more darker tones. As ever IDLES songwriting ability is on full show here, a deeply personal song that resonates with many.

Speaking on the track frontman Joe Talbot says “‘A Hymn’ is a hymn that rejoices in the sinister flesh-eating virus of the pedestrian. It sings the tune of normal’s teeth sinking into your neck as you sleep stood up with your eyes open. Amen.”
