It is with the greatest pleasure to introduce you all with the splendid Merival the Ontario born female singer/songwriter.

Merival grew up in Kitchener, Ontario where as a child studied Piano. At 15 she started writing her own songs and took guitar and vocal lessons but her rebellious heart pushed her towards focusing on her own material. Not only is Merival talented with the guitar she is also skilled with the banjo and the mandolin, not to mention her silky vocals.

In 2012 she moved to Toronto which is where she resides, since moving she has been active in the local music community, contributing to projects and collaborating with musicians including Ryan Hemsworth (Secret Songs), Torquil Campbell (Stars), Darren Seltmann (The Avalanches), Swim Good (Bedroomer) and fronting her old band First Rate People.

A lot of her music comes from sad places, Merival explains “It’s always been easier for me to write from that feeling than any other”.

Some of her major influences include Sufjan Stevens, Joanna Newsom, Joni Mitchell, Feist, and Daniel Rossen.
