‘Cold Memory’ is the sophomore album from Melbourne trio Jade Imagine. From start to finish, ‘Cold Memory’ is a lo-fi gem that pulls from the 60’s and creates a fuzzy blanket of warm production and gorgeous vocals.

The slow plod of opener ‘I Guess We’ll Just Wait’ is filled with the glory of ‘Sgt. Peppers’ era Beatles in its melodies and scope. Lead singer Jade’s voice has a sweetness and airiness to it that compliments the music which has a minimal production and a luxurious warmth to it.

‘Instinct That I Want to Know’ brings things a little more up to date, allowing synths to take the lead but with that same tight sound and vulnerability that Jade Imagine do so well. The groove of ‘Down To Us’ and the way that the bass accentuates the track is reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac and gives yet another layer to Jade Imagine’s sultry sound.

From the moment you hit play on ‘Cold Memory’, you are captivated. Jade’s vocals are just soft enough to draw you in as they nestle in alongside the music. Though the instruments are played lightly and the production is tight, each instrument is still allowed to shine. With drum beats that stretch outside your regular beats, bass that wanders around the fretboard and guitar that laces throughout, each component of Jade Imagine is as important as each other in creating this gorgeous world.

So, allow yourself to be swept along by the bewitching sounds of Jade Imagine, it’s not like you’ll have a choice once you press play anyway.
