Lauran Hibberd announces her debut LP ‘Garageband Superstar’ & shares bouncing new single ‘Still Running (5k)’

Isle of Wight’s Lauran Hibberd has finally unveiled her debut LP Garageband Superstar’, which is arriving August 19th via Virgin Music. In addition to this she has also released the lead single ‘Still Running (5k)’ (Feat. Limp Bizkit’s DJ Lethal), a 90’s nostalgia track that continues her tongue-in-cheek delivery.

The lead single opens with a jagged guitar and scratches from DJ Lethal, creating a retrospective sound plucked from the shell suit era. Lauran‘s slacker delivery and satirical songwriting shines bright as always, continuing her form as one of the funniest and honest songwriters of her generation. There are few artists who can write a song so relatable and so self-deprecating as Lauran. It’s this element that makes her so wildly alluring. Although there is a slight shift away from the 90’s early 2000’s rock sound and a leap towards perhaps a more hip hop element, it’s still the classic Lauran we all know and love. It’s a strong calling card to as what to expect from the debut LP and has us incredibly excited to hear more.

Speaking on the album Lauran explains: “It’s named after the first track I wrote for this album, it made sense to me to call it this because I sometimes do feel like I’m famous when I’m in my bedroom and writing songs on garageband. Also I’m very aware that as soon as I leave that space, I’m just like everyone else. And I’m ok with that”.
