Instant Empire are a band that appeals to a wide audience yet fans of the Emo/punk boom of the early 2000’s will hear many similarities to bands such as Death Cab for Cutie which actually turns out the band’s debut album ‘Lamplight Lost’ was recorded and produced by John Vanderslice who was responsible for DCFC as well as Mountain Goats recordings.
The track of interest is something of pure beauty with melodic guitars dancing across the hallowed and haunting vocals that tell a sad tale of a widow who rides the tube just to hear her deceased husband echo the words “Mind the Gap”.
