Following a Glastonbury set, CMAT drops nostalgic new single ‘Where Are Your Kids Tonight‘, featuring indie legend John Grant
‘Where Are Your Kids Tonight?’ is a nostalgic track that sees the singer explore themes of growing up and finding herself following in her mother’s footsteps.
CMAT describes: “I wrote this song when I realised I had turned into my mother. It’s kind of inspired by this image I had, of entering a waterfall-like portal from an Irish kids’ show called ‘Foreign Exchange’ where I’m looking at 1988 and 2023 at the exact same time every time I look at myself in the mirror.”
The song is melancholic and dark, with lyrics such as “I walk to fill my glass with ice and I / Watch myself from an aerial height / Everything fun falls apart and leaves me here” evoking images of coming to the end of a road or finding that our fun youth does not last.
‘Where Are Your Kids Tonight?‘ was recorded, produced and mixed by Matias Tellez at his studio in Bergen, Norway, with Grant recording his vocals at his studio in Reykjavik, Iceland.
