The Welsh band Columbia have returned with their new single ‘Glory People’, taken from their forthcoming debut album
The Cardiff based band had an incredibly successful 2021 which saw the Welsh band build momentum and notoriety for their stadium ready sound. It’s reminiscent of artists of the Britpop era such as The Stone Roses but with a hint of alt-rock and modern indie.
Columbia are hoping to continue on their upwards trajectory with a debut tour in 2022 as well as their debut album ‘Embrace The Chaos’, which is set for release March 2022. To give you an idea of what to expect from the album and the ambitious band they have released the recent single ‘Glory People’, an anthemic single that is equal parts gripping and contagious.
The track opens with slow, yet hard hitting percussion that opens up to a subtle, ethereal guitar that is complemented by the stalwart vocals from frontman Craig Lewis. Throughout you are treated to a large sing along chorus and the occasional wailing guitar, it’s really a perfectly constructed rock track. In addition to this the band also teamed up with Asha Jane to provide backing vocals, which really brings the track to life.
As bassist Aron Stenning explains: “’Glory People’ unleashes a stadium-sized, progressively expansive sound and anthemic lyrics with the touch of brilliance from Asha Jane that ‘will have you screaming the chorus and chanting the title at the top of your lungs’.”
