The bay area artist has come through with his first single from the forthcoming debut album ‘The Tales People Tell’, out April 26th via Colemine Records. He wrote and produced each track on the record and plays 10 instruments throughout, while enlisting the help of friends and contemporaries like drummer James Gadson (Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye, Beck), members of Monophonics, and Kelly’s own father, prominent sideman/keyboardist Mike Finnigan (Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Etta James).

The single ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’ is classic soul track that has Finnigans vocals tearing past the beautiful backdrop of keys, guitar and saxophone. It carries a similar sound to late greats but also takes elements from artists such as The Black Keys. It’s raw and layered deep emotion, tackling the pain of love. The sweet, soulful track is a perfect compliment to a blissful Saturday and can be enjoyed no matter the weather.
