Liverpool alt-rock band The Mysterines release their first single taken from their upcoming LP, alongside their current tour supporting Arctic Monkeys

Begin Again’ is The Mysterines’ first release of 2023, following their All These Things’ EP last year. Frontwoman Lia Metcalfe takes the lead on the new track, her moody vocals layered over stripped-back instrumental as she sings about embarking on a new journey.

There is a theme of surrealism as she talks about saturn, stars and sun, of another reality existing out there. There is also a sense of self-realisation as Metcalfe asks; “The mirror begins to shriek /
Or am I you, no longer me? / Listen, the thing you fear is singing”.

Their signature guitar riffs pair nicely with the gloomy lyrics and despite the doomsday vibe of the track, it’s completely electrifying.

The band are currently supporting Arctic Monkeys on their UK tour.
