Cornish independent label Krautpop! take over the Cornish Bank for a celebration of the label and a showcase of local talent

Over recent months, one of Cornwall’s independent record labels Krautpop! has bridged the gap between exciting new talent and seasoned professionals. On Wednesday the 8th of March I joined them for a celebration of the label and performances from some familiar faces.

Mothman, The Man

Starting the night, we were joined by Mothman, The Man, who stopped by Falmouth on their UK tour. By now these psych garage rockers need no introduction; after being hardened by their quest across the UK, these seasoned pros were tight and nonchalant.

Opening a show on a weekday is never easy, however Mothman brought the momentum and energy to the Bank, setting things up for an incredible night. Playing hits off their debut album ‘1000 Eyes’ such as ‘Topographical Face‘ they set the scene for the night and its fiery intentions.

School Disco

Returning to Falmouth after tearing the roof off The Underland bar, School Disco provided us with their unique fusion of psych, rock and soul. With tender lows and bone-crunching high points, the band traversed a range of feelings, leaving us euphorically motion-sick.

Tinnedfruit

Ending the night were local legends Tinnedfruit. Blurring the lines between DIY indie, garage and punk, they showcased a beautiful example of the underground music that exists locally. With a confident yet intimate presence, they welcomed unexpected guests to the stage. They catalysed the crowds enthusiasm and fed it until it reached its peak form – utter chaos.

With such an incredible line-up in such a unique venue, the crowd were left with an intense feeling of community. I’m impressed and in love with the sense of belonging and welcoming that these bands, The Cornish Bank and Krautpop! worked together to create. With a range of exciting future projects, such as the release of Factor 50’s debut EP ‘The Vault, I look forward to seeing what future surprises they have in store.
