Music | News | Field Studies Announce ‘Rainmaking’ EP & Share Video For ‘Listener’

By Kieran Webber

2015 was a successful year for the art-rock outfit Field Studies. Support from Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson and John Kennedy of Radio X saw the band make numerous national festival appearances, including a slot on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury Festival, and an acclaimed appearance at Y Not Festival (described by BBC Introducing’s Emma Clifford as “spellbinding and incredible to experience”).

This May the young 4-piece return with ‘Rainmaking’, a dark, enveloping new EP that sees them hone their atmospheric craft. The long-awaited follow up to their mesmerising debut ‘Celestial’ sees Field Studies explore more raw, bleak textures – the band self-recorded the EP over a long winter, almost exclusively at night, capturing the eerie environment of their frozen suburban recording space across 4 haunting tracks.

The latest offering ‘Listener’ is a harrowing song oozing with dark undertones that all amounts to an explosive ending backed by howling vocals. The visuals that accompany the track is just as uneasy and encapsulates the suspense their music builds.
