Cambridge indie four piece Kermode Spirit released their debut EP last year, via spotify, iTunes and physical release.
The ‘House Party’ EP is an easily digested indie pill that is full of hip shaking goodness to heartfelt emotive slow songs that creep into the listener’s heart, it is adolescent rock music that is oozing in infuence from the likes of Arctic Monkeys, The Futureheads and Maximo Park.
The Ep spreads itself across four tracks and opens with the energetic ‘When Sammy Left the Party’, a percussive lead indie power pop gem that has a thunderous bassline rioting through. Following track ‘NYENYC’ is a playful tune that is carefree and full of joy, but it’s not all happiness and dancing the band showcase their more emotive side with ‘You Can’t Do That On A Thursday’ an emotional journey that showcases the bands diversity. Whereas closing track ‘It’s A Trap’ is a hook laden number that is bursting with confidence.
The EP acts as a tasting card if you will inviting you to view what the band are capable of, and at such a young age the band have a long and fruitful journey ahead of them.
