Chicago four piece Deeper have announced the release of their debut Sub Pop album, ‘Careful!’, alongside new single ‘Build A Bridge’
‘Careful!‘ will be Deeper’s first album released on Sub Pop and their newest track is in keeping with their signature guitar-heavy sound. However, it is the first song written in a new format for the band.
Of the new process, the band explain: “In the early days of the band, we would throw shit at the wall in our practice space and see what stuck. Being forced to stay in our apartments during lockdown allowed us to apply more intention to a song and really dissect it piece by piece.”
This is evident in ‘Build a Bridge‘ in the way the band take their hooky melody and witty lyrics and make something raw and interesting; Nic Gohl’s vocals weaving the song between genres. The song blurs the lines between an art rock sound similar to Talking Heads and a noughties post-punk sound reminiscent of The Strokes.
LP ‘Careful’ is out on 8th September via Sub Pop.
