Bristol/Manchester duo Getdown Services drop laid-back and surprisingly sweet single ahead of debut album ‘Crisps’

Getdown Services are known for their catchy electronic beats, witty lyricism and a healthy dose of cynicism. Listening to ‘Cream Of The Crop’ with its jabs on consumerism and hipster culture or ‘Get Back Jamie’ with its jabs on… Jamie Oliver… you might think you know what to expect from a Getdown Services track.

‘I Wish It Didn’t Matter’ is here to prove you wrong. The track is a sincere, honest and genuinely sweet reflection on alienation and feeling out of place. “Am I having fun or am I only watching it?” they ask.

Replacing the usual bubbly synths for a lo-fi guitar line and production, the track has a charmingly fuzzy feel to it. A stylophone line sings quietly in the background, dueting with the vocal line. In a similar way to The Bug Club, who they are playing several gigs with later this year, it is not a complicated track, but instead one that gets straight to the point and does so in a catchy, memorable way.

Vocally, this is a nice change from the sarcastic spoken vocals of previous tracks and should provide some variety in their upcoming debut album ‘Crisps’. If these recent tracks are anything to go by, it should be one of your most anticipated releases of the year.

Debut album ‘Crisps’ is out on 9th November via Breakfast Records.
