LION‘s latest single ‘Wolf‘ will tear holes through your emotional armour. Poker face just won’t wash with this gut-wrencher of a war cry. Fearless in a way that doesn’t just mean all fight and fangs, but bares every soft spot too, this track is a blaze of throat-fire, knuckled percussion and tender strings. “It’s about being fucking scared and not knowing what the hell you’re doing and just rolling with it,” Beth Lowen, aka LION, explained. We relate big time. Please can we be part of this singer’s completely-lost-but-couldn’t-care-less pack?

Light your listening on fire, give ‘Wolf‘ a spin:

Next month Cat Power‘s masterstroke of an album ‘Moon Pix‘ turns twenty-one, and just over two decades since Chan Marshall sang “metal heart you’re not worth a thing“, LION has arrived to remind you of that lush, husky voice and the be-vulnerable sentiment all over again. A Cat Power loner-kid kind of defiance, a Janis Joplin growl and a Sharon Van Etten soulful sway: the mighty three all have their say in LION‘s songs. It’s no surprise that this singer’s bold ballads stepped centre-stage for NME’s Girls To The Front gig earlier this year.

Wolf‘ follows the release of LION‘s single ‘Second Hand‘ which bewitched our airwaves back in April, and you better be ready to have your soul stirred by more of this songwriter’s folk-rock flavoured roars ‘cos we’ve heard whispers of a debut album on the way. Oh yay. Fresh from supporting Band Of Horses on a round of UK and European dates in June, LION will be making appearances at Boardmasters and Reading and Leeds Festival later this summer.
