THE NATIVE RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘CHANGES’ IN ANTICIPATION OF THEIR UPCOMING EP

On Friday 27th May, Plymouth-based quintet The Native will be unveiling their new single titled ‘Changes’. The track was produced by John Cornfield (Oasis, Muse, The Stone Roses) and mixed by the Grammy Award-winning Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters, Muse, Everything Everything).

It has been a massive year for the band, from joining Bastille on their Spring 2022 arena tour, to signing a record deal with This Feeling Records as they gear up to release their highly anticipated upcoming EP. They have confirmed that Changes’ will feature on the project, alongside ‘Blindside’.

‘Changes’ opens as a jangly indie-pop song, driven by acoustic guitar, but it is not long before the full band joins the instrumental reveal a punchy indie-rock chorus. Despite the enunciation of the lyrics being slightly difficult to understand at points during the verses for the first couple of listens, frontman Charlie Noordewier’s vocals soar on the chorus, and it will instantly stick in your memory.

Lyrically, the track is about having the bravery to face up to a problem within your life, by making a change in order to overcome the problem. In Charlie’s words: ‘Changes’ is about breaking out from the mundane cycle of life that so many find themselves stuck in, and pushing back against the people that put you down for trying to do something different.”

The band will embark on a UK headline tour in June, with support from Low Lying Sun, with the addition of The Florentinas for the show at Camden Assembly in London. This will be followed by various festival appearances throughout July, including Truck Festival, Leopallooza Festival, Chagstock Festival, Gateways Festival, and Y Not Festival.
