A Mercury Prize nomination, a Glastonbury set that lit a fire in the far-reaching depths of even the most dormant psyche and a swathe of sellout UK and EU tour dates have, all-in-dazzling-all, made this year pretty special for Dublin (without a doubt) favourites Fontaines D.C.

When Irish old guy Oscar Wilde declared: “We’re all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars,” he probably wasn’t talking about Fontaines D.C. and their gold-only musical offerings. But he may well have been. Each single the band deliver has a knack of taking the smashed-glass-bottle bits of light from a cold, concrete place and turning them into something brilliant. The band’s debut album ‘Dogrel‘ brought a blinding mix of punk and poetry to the start of 2019 and their live performances have been dubbed “a healing balm for a fractured society” by NME

Fontaines D.C.‘s roaring poetics in action on ‘Chequeless Reckless‘:

“Charisma is exquisite manipulation. And money is the sandpit of the soul.”

So now you know why details of a Fontaines D.C. headline show at Brixton Academy next year got us going all goosebumpy. Get us there now, magic music gods. On the 25th February 2020 the band will be bringing their biggest headline show yet to the London venue. Tickets go on general sale on the 2nd August at 9am. Be there.
