The Bristol based hard hitters Heavy Lungs have spent much of their time gaining traction with their thought provoking and visceral post-punk. In the fairly short time they’ve been around they have caught the attention of music lovers across the country and afar. Their powerful, high octane energy music has captured a generation eager for release. Now they have announced their most ambitious project to date, their latest EP ‘Measure’, out October 10th via Balley Records.
You can get your ears around the first single ‘(A bit of a) Birthday’ on September 13th, followed by the second ‘Self Worth’ out October 10th. We’ve been lucky enough to get a sneak preview of both tracks and can tell you, you are in for one hell of a surprise with these new songs.
The ‘Measure’ EP boasts the bands frantic, often overwhelming energy as well as their ability to craft music that hits you in the heart and brain. Like their counterparts IDLES they have a way of articulating through their songwriting. Speaking on the new EP frontman Danny Nedelko says:
“Measure centres around the undeniable importance of self-worth. From inner observation of myself and of the people around me over the course of past year, I’ve noticed that it can sometimes very much be neglected. The purpose of this EP is to hopefully remind us to value ourselves and grow more comfortable in our skin-to believe in ourselves. Our own inner strength and capabilities are vastly superior to our own perception of them.”
