Stuff we learned from our deep-dive into Squid‘s music: Our listening was majorly lacking in manic cowbell patterns and psychedelic brass chatter until this band came along.
Championing the eternally underrated cowbell solo and even throwing some synths and a cornet into the mix, the Brighton outfit are set to release a new EP later this month. ‘Town Centre’ will enter the world via Speedy Wunderground, and with previous releases on the London indie label include the likes of Warmduscher and Falmingods, Squid‘s clanging rhythms and funky riffs are sure to fit right in.

But there’s more! Generous sea creatures that they are, Squid revealed a new single from their upcoming EP last week. Every bit the quirky disco-punk we were hoping for ‘Match Bet’, band member Ollie Judge explained, “is told from the perspective of a Sonic Youth super fan”. In Thurston Moore we trust. Lead us to the tunes.
