The young gun has grown up in Cornwall and has her finger on the local scenes pulse.

Opus Kink, a stylish six-piece from the creative lands of Brighton, brings us their new single ‘Wild Bill’. Produced by the legendary Tim Burgess, this sprightly track marries a variety of musical styles together to create a song of every Cowboy’s and girl’s dreams.

Angus Rogers (vocals, guitars), Sam Abbo (bass), Fin Abbo (drums), Jazz Pope (key & synth), Johnny Giles (trumpet), and Jed Morgan (alto Saxophone) reveal that “‘Wild Bill’ takes the frontier lawman-gunslinger Wild Bill Hickock and ungraciously twists him into a poster boy for the Western gentleman’s assault on God, death, judgment, nature, women, and foreigners”. Undoubtedly, the track sounds like it has rolled straight out of a Western Saloon with the seasoning of Fela Kuti’s Latin rhythms and not-jazz-but-jazz stylings of The Lounge Lizards and The Blockheads. It could also be said that it follows a similar sounding to the story-telling of Bob Dylan‘s‘ ‘Hurricane’ and folky blues of Kaleo’s ‘Broken bones’. An undeniably celebratory track that is unlike no other.

Having recently been signed onto Nice Swan records, one of the country’s most exciting independent labels with other signees including Sports Team, Pip Blom, and Hotel Lux, they are ones to keep an eye on.
