Dublin’s latest indie-pop all-female export Pillow Queens are here to bring us back some summer sun with their upbeat and rambunctious new cut ‘Rats’.

Having gained glowing support on the release of their 2020 studio debut ‘In Waiting’, the quartet has recently announced their signing to the well-renowned Royal Mountain Records. Championing the likes of Alvvays, Mac DeMarco, and Calpurnia, Pillow Queens are a breath of fresh air amongst the world-famous roster.

Complete with visuals directed by the acclaimed Michael Maxxis, ‘Rats’ delivers an enigmatic soundscape teeming with brilliant instrumentation, raucous energy, and veined with lush indie-rock. Strong Irish vocal intonations shine atop roaring guitar strums and rolling drum beats in the comeback track of 2021.

Chatting on the track, Pamela divulges: “Filming the video for ‘Rats’ was catharsis at its best. After 18 months of no gigs and being inside, we finally got a chance to gather in a venue and simulate a real life gig with some of our closest friends. The chant section towards the end of the song is usually a highlight of our live set and we had really missed that energy so having a chance to recreate that was really special.

The band have also announced a string of UK tour dates, culminating at Cork’s sold-out Cyprus Avenue.
