Platonica Erotica is a London-based solo artist, performing with the likes of Famous and Black Country, New Road she is the one to watch if you’re a Windmill frequenter or a lover of music in any sense of the word. ‘IYSM‘ is Platonica Erotica’s most recent contribution to the Slow Dance Records collaborative mixtapes.
In the beginning, there was synth. We’re lead into a synthesizer wonderland, accompanied by similarly eerie excerpts of a woman speaking about God and her journey to enlightenment. This song is like floating in a chamber of water submerged in darkness, if going into space via an alien spaceship made entirely of light had a theme tune, this would be it. ‘ILYSM’ is reminiscent of a track that would be played at the Alexander McQueen show in 2009 titled ‘Plato’s Atlantis’.
Her gentle tone contrasts to her dark natured lyricism, it’s as if Platonica Erotica is hypnotising the listener, but you don’t care because it’s so beautiful. If she was a siren and that was her call, take me into the ocean and drown me!
Platonica Erotica is one of the most promising musicians of 2021, her ability to build an entire world from a few lines of synth is magic. Listen to ‘ILYSM’ and immerse yourself in it, feel it, breathe it in. It’s a track that deserves your full attention.
