The Fantastic Prima Queen Return With Stunning New Single ‘Chew My Cheeks’ and Sign To Nice Swan Records
Prima Queen are relatively new on the scene but in a short time they’ve already started turning heads, especially after their memorable Green Man Festival performance. The band have no expanded their sound, creatively and sonically by having a full 7 person lineup. The band is lead by best friends Louise Macphail and Kristin McFadden, who both take on songwriting duties. It’s this chemistry on stage and throughout their songwriting that make for such a wonderfully honest and beautiful musical experience.
The magic continues with their latest single ‘Chew My Cheeks’, a dazzling indie track that is layered in translucent guitars and stunning vocal harmonies. The track is driven forward by a subtle guitar line, that gently plucks as momentum build with the percussion. It’s a rhythmic track that has plenty to unpack. With each listen you hear another element that was missed on the previous listen, particularly the wave of guitars that are woven throughout the track. You cannot help but fall in love with thier near ethereal sound, they truly are one of the most exciting artists around today.
Speaking on ‘Chew My Cheeks’ the band explain: “Chew My Cheeks is a song that centres on an unhealthy obsession with someone who is slightly out of reach. We wrote it in lockdown last year when we were remembering what it was like to idealise people you don’t know and to use them as a form of escapism. We ended up watching The Matrix in isolation together around the same time and were really inspired by the world in which the movie creates.”
The band also worked with The Big Moon on the release, and explain that “It was incredible being able to work with The Big Moon since they’ve been such a big inspiration to us and we look up to them so much. They really understood our vision for the song and we were so impressed with how they were able to bring it to life.”
