The LA based artist is an example of how environment can affect a musician. Sam grew up at the edge of the Nevada desert and you can feel this throughout her music. The rambling guitar lines, the breezy vocals and dreamy soundscape capture the Californian desert. It’s a wonderful combination of americana, shoegaze and indie-rock. There are multiple layers each with their own mysterious if not somewhat haunting atmosphere.
The latest single ‘Clean’ is no exception from this. It captures a retrospective sound and warps it to fit a modern audience. Echoey vocals that borderline on the angelic linger whilst a reverb drenched, ethereal guitar line subtly hangs behind. It’s a dreamy sound that is hauntingly beautiful.
