Drummer Patrick Carney calls the duo’s ninth record an “homage to electric guitar”

After a long hiatus The Black Keys are back and have finally announced their ninth studio album “Let’s Rock”. The album is set for release June 28th via Easy Eye Sound/Nonesuch Records (Dan Auerbach label). They have also released the second single ‘Eagle Birds’, a hip shaking, groove laden number that is reminiscent of their older music.

Speaking about the record Dan Auerbach says “When we’re together we are the Black Keys, that’s where that real magic is, and always has been since we were 16”. Patrick Carney adds “The record is like a homage to electric guitar,” We took a simple approach and trimmed all the fat like we used to.”

“Let’s Rock” includes the previously shared “Lo/Hi.” The album was written, produced, and recorded live by Auerbach and Carney at Auerbach’s Eye Sound studio in Nashville. It also features backing vocals from Leisa Hans and Ashley Wilcoxson.
