The Lounge Society Release Anthemic New Single ‘Last Breath’ And Continues Their Streak Of Wildly Infectious Releases
The Lounge Society first caught our attention with their exciting debut EP ‘Silk For The Starving’, a delightful barrage of off kilter indie that took a swing at small town mentalities and the suckling of the Tory tit in rural communities. It was a refreshing body of work that quickly pushed the young band above their peers. It carried poignent songwriting and groove laden hooks, it was daringly infectious.
Now the West Yorkshire band return with their latest single ‘Last Breath’, a track that spins on its heel showing a totally new side to the band. It continues their sideways approach to the indie genre, propped up by Cameron Davey’s alluring vocal style that switches from languid falsetto to gruff bark. It’s an amazing and incredibly hard thing to achieve, creating a sound that is fresh yet reminiscent of your trademark, The Lounge Society are clearly masters of their craft. Although a lighter release it still boasts their poignent and often biting songwriting as lyrics such as “I will spend my last breath singing” bellow through. It’s a song about defiance but also one that encourages you to go out and enjoy yourself.
Speaking on the track the band comments: “Last Breath is a symbol of defiance, of wanting to party on even as the walls close in around you. It’s that “one last drink, one more song” feeling condensed into 3 minutes of our music. A moment of hedonism even as people try to take it away from you. It’s a song for a time when youth (and the energy that comes with it) is once again under attack from those who find change threatening, and it’s aimed at their necks. It’s also just meant to be a banger.
The track continues to prove The Lounge Society‘s exciting promise, we stand by the statement that they are one of the most exciting bands to emerge in recent times. Watching this band mold, grow, and expand their sound is nothing short of exhilarating.
