Dublin’s hotly tipped, post-punk five-piece, The Murder Capital’s debut single ‘Feeling Fades’ is an apocalyptic, violent and sinister sounding release. Joy Division’s musical sentiment meets vocalist James Mcgovern’s bolshy, ‘piss and vinegar’, classic punk vocals.
The driving basslines, tribal drums, subtle guitar licks and repeated vocal themes seem to stem from urban decay, a product of the environment that created them.
Any fans of the new wave of post-punk bands like IDLES, fellow Dubliners Fontaines D.C or Shame will be in their element here, an essential listen from a deservedly ‘tipped for big things’ band.
