Offering nothing in the way of over-indulgence is The Van T’s with their searing new single, ‘Control’. At just over two minutes the Glaswegian quartet waste no time packing their punch, managing to concoct a range of influences spanning several decades in their brand of punk-centric indie rock.

The vintage punk rock influence is clear in the track’s simple structure and dirty guitar chords, while the melodic leads and Chloe Van Thompson’s soaring vocals are propelled through a tunnel of reverb to morph the track into a beast much larger than its influences might suggest. The result is an immediately infectious and accessible barn burner which is not at all compromised by the ambition of its pure volume.
