Arguably the most iconic venue in South London, The Windmill gives people space to create and explore while also nurturing new bands such as Shame, Fontaines D.C, Black Country, New Road and Black Midi to name a few, who wouldn’t be where they are without the starting point of The Windmill.
The venue has put on numerous socially distant and live stream gigs but has still been named by Music Venue Trust as one of the 30 venues in imminent danger of permanent closure. Having missed out on vital funding as part of the #saveourvenuescampaign. Therefore in an attempt to raise funds, The Windmill is putting on a Christmas Extravaganza! “Christmas at The Windmill” will include black midi, Squid, Tiña, Sweat and Lobby as well as performances from special guests Kae Tempest and La Roux closing with a DJ set from PVA.
The event is officially a collaboration between the infamous roofdog Lucky (now more of a beer garden dog) and dog pal Feta, music producer Dan Carey and his wife Jane’s beloved pet. Check out the cutest announcement video ever here:
It is imperative that we save The Windmill, it would be a loss felt through the country and in particular the South London music scene. The Windmill is a safe space for all, where people go to have fun and meet with friends, a place where band’s careers are launched! It would be a horrible, devastating loss to music so please give what you can and Save The Windmill Brixton.
