Briliant, boastful, and most importantly BACK. The Wombats have made a triumphant return after a three-year hiatus since the chart-topping stomper of an album ‘Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life’. Their latest offering, ‘Method To The Madness’, offers a tantalising tease of what’s to come.
Completely cathartic and utterly carefree, through bold vocals Murph declares “Fuck My Sadness” in an attempt to leave behind chaos and ultimately let go of unwanted barriers.
‘Method To The Madness’ introduces a softer side to the legendary indie trio with melancholy-infused vocals with deep and heartfelt lyrics. Paired with dainty piano tickles and guitar flourishes, elements combine to construct a smooth landscape in a balladesque creation.
Completely cathartic and utterly carefree, through bold vocals Murph declares “Fuck My Sadness” in an attempt to leave behind chaos and ultimately let go of unwanted barriers. Building up to the ultimate crescendo, the track bursts into a firework display of rolling drums and punchy vocal intonations.
Speaking on the track Murph divulges, “‘Method To The Madness’ is about trying to find patterns within chaos and ultimately giving up, and letting go. Some of the lyrics are lifted from my own honeymoon experience – walking around European cities, being amongst tourists whilst simultaneously being one myself, and generally blagging it with last minute hotel bookings. Feeling excitement but still being fully aware that nothing much has changed.”
If ‘Method To The Madness’ is anything to go by, The Wombats‘ next full-length release is set to be full of experimentation and unique sonic demonstrations.
