Brodie Milner’s ‘God i’ continues his trend of writing intellectual, sharp earworms that you’ll find yourself singing along with, even on first listen.
Hull-based alt/indie songwriter Brodie Milner is delighted to announce a new collection of songs, with second single ‘God i’ released on 18th November 2025.
‘God i’ builds on the tone and storytelling of previous single ‘Drinking Martinis in the Olive Gardens of Gethsemane’, with considered lyricism, backed by a rip-roaring chorus.
Milner has already established himself as an incredibly witty lyricist, with his previous EP Tragicomedy focusing on the dystopian life that’s become all too real to us. “How many politicians does it take to cull entire populations, I’m not a statistician, but I think the answer is less than three”, hits worryingly close to home in the current climate.
That entire EP had a narrative and commentary that could easily be traced, and Milner looks to continue this with his next body of work:
“I came to the EP looking to make a consistent body of work that felt like each song was part of a larger narrative… This next collection of songs takes this even further. The lyrics oscillate between sarcastic, serious, cynical, sad, and sincere. They touch on themes of entitlement, male privilege, disparities of power, and complicated morals to name a few. These themes will be expanded on with each following release as more characters are introduced.”
Not only is Milner a talented lyricist, but he has a knack for writing infectious, thundering rhythms that you’ll find in the back of your head for days on end. ‘God i’s plucky acoustic melody collides with sweeping electronic guitars to create an atmosphere that’s both urgent and direct. On top of this, Milner’s vocals are full of anger and pain. His natural grit adding a beautiful texture to the whole package.
It certainly sounds like Milner has been busy with further new music and live dates to be revealed over the coming months, with two full bodies of work set for release in 2026.
I’ve been personally recommending Brodie Milner to anyone looking for new music since I caught him live at the start of the year, and with this new run of singles, I’m probably going to spend most of 2026 doing just the same.
