Jazz-punk outfit Opus Kink release a reworked version of 2024 track ‘I Wanna Live With You’ with Warmduscher
Brighton-born band Opus Kink have brought a fresh twist to their single ‘I Wanna Live With You’, teaming up with Warmduscher to produce an effortlessly stylish track. It opens with a steady, pulsating beat which evolves over its 6 minute 20 second runtime, gradually building by layering different effects. Just when you think the song is at its most sonically developed section, another layer is added, with each instrument and sound seamlessly fitting into the track’s overall atmosphere.
At the start, it feels as though the Warmduscher version brings a darker more sinister sound, but just as it begins to come to a close, the bright and colourful brass sounds from the original version return. The inclusion of Warmduscher on the track gives it a new dimension and the two distinct styles of the bands complement each other well.
The soft breathy falsetto of Opus Kink’s Angus Rogers contrasts with the deep bassy tones of Warmduscher’s Clams Baker Jr, and these vocals bring an interesting depth and mysterious quality to the song. Rogers’ repeated mantra of ‘I wanna live with you/I wanna cry till my face is blue’ has an air of desperation and gives the track a more haunting feel compared to the original version.
