Rising indie-rock starlets Wunderhorse rise to myth-worthy expectations with their much-anticipated new single ‘Midas’
Following on from their debut album ‘Cub‘ featuring anthemic tracks such as ‘Leader of the Pack’, Wunderhorse build on a fine balance of powerhouse riffs and seasoned songwriting with a statement piece signalling a band eager to step up to the next level.
With all-seeing, Dylan-esque observation, frontman Jamie Slater weaves a fable over bluesy guitars somewhere between 2000’s indie and classic rock. A rapid, foot-tapping energy long-term fans will immediately feel comfortable with is central to ‘Midas’, crowning it a certain crowd-favourite-in-waiting.
Slater has the perspective and wisdom of a songwriter far beyond his years. The time spent honing his craft in punk and indie rock bands driven by pure aggression shines through in a track that’s every bit snarling energy and it is overlaid with a sense of mature perspective.
Panic, fantastical imagery and a sense of kingly judgement permeate ‘Midas’ as we’re willingly dragged from blistering intro to scene-closing guitar solo in what feels like one two-minute sprint. Wunderhorse are a band well on their way to establishing a kingdom.
Wunderhorse co-headline Dot To Dot Festival with Jockstrap in Bristol and Nottingham this May. Tickets are available here.
