Hi, I’m Erin Terlier, a passionate photographer based in Belgium (and London). My work focuses primarily on concert photography but I also love shooting portraits.
My approach is all about capturing moments that speak for themselves — whether it’s the chaos of a live show or the quiet vulnerability of a portrait. Photography is my way of documenting stories, emotions, and connections.
Despite selling out Brussels’ Ancienne Belgique, Cavetown delivers a wonderfully intimate performance
After discovering Cavetown at Rock Werchter in 2023, seeing him headline a sold-out show at the Ancienne Belgique and even having the chance to photograph him felt like a full-circle moment.
Beautiful lighting set the tone from the very first notes. The show was gentle and unhurried overall, built on quiet moments of connection between Cavetown and his audience. At first, I wondered whether a seated venue might have suited his soft sound better, but the crowd’s energy quickly proved me wrong. Everyone was so genuinely into it that standing felt exactly right.
What struck me most was how the whole performance felt like watching friends play music in someone’s room. The musicians moved freely around the stage, gravitating towards each other naturally. The drummer was never left alone, which was unusual in the best possible way, and only added to the warmth on stage.
Cavetown himself came across as both shy and completely at ease, a rare balance that made everything feel authentic. He took time between songs to speak to the audience in a soft, unhurried way, never performing so much as simply existing on stage. It made the whole experience feel genuinely intimate.
The highlight of the night came mid-set, when the band sat down at the edge of the stage and played a song directly to the front row, while the rest of the crowd lit up the room with their phone flashlights. It was one of those rare concert moments that feels almost too tender to describe.
Even without knowing every song, tracks like ‘Baby Spoon‘ pulled me fully into the moment. The crowd was extraordinary, crying, dancing, jumping, singing along to what seemed like every single word. I’ve rarely seen an audience that connected, and it made the whole night feel even more special.
The show built like a dream you don’t want to wake from, beginning with calm, delicate songs and slowly opening up into something you could move to. It was a shared emotional journey between Cavetown, his band, and everyone in that room. Every part of the night made me feel fully connected to the music and the artist. A truly unforgettable experience.
