Sports Team return to their small-venue roots for an intimate and packed show at The Fleece, supported by Pack Of Animals and Porij
Sports Team rolled through Bristol, returning to smaller stages on the run up to headline DIY Magazine’s DIY Alive Festival. Joining them for the eight shows across the UK were Bristol-based rockers Pack of Animals and London-based electronic four-piece Porij.
Pack of Animals kicked off the night with swerving melodic guitar reminiscent of the Madchester and Britpop era, while Porij got the whole crowd dancing to their indie electronica.
Despite having broken down twice on their way to Bristol, this did not dull Sports Team’s mood as they took to the stage, diving straight in with ‘The Game’. Playing mainly from their first couple of albums, the familiar chaos of a Sports Team gig took no time to ensue, with the majority of the crowd getting involved in the mosh pit throughout.
The nonchalant demeanour of the band only enticed fans more as some took to climbing the Fleece’s signature pillars to gain their attention as they looked on in amusement. New single ‘Billy’ slotted in perfectly into the set, destining itself to be a live staple, as the crowd belted back all the lyrics. It always feels like such a privilege getting to see bigger bands perform an intimate show, and it was definitely one I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
