Jax Bowes

Based in Brighton and London, Jax is a freelance writer who has worked at Abbey Road Studios and been to more festivals than she can remember. She’s all about guitar music, tight instrumentals, heavy bass lines, and lyrics that carry real weight. She holds a BA and MA in Creative Writing and has worked on projects for the National Trust and the Bloomsbury Festival London. Inspired by cross-genre, she is drawn to the moments where music and meaning overlap.

Nick Mulvey’s new single ‘Freedom Now’ crosses the borders of music with its collaboration with Golshifteh Farahani and Arooj Aftab

‘Freedom Now’s’ message of freedom and equality transcends the enchanting rhythm to deliver a powerful message of the struggle for freedom and peace. Its multicultural composition evokes the magical sounds of summer, providing a backdrop of hope against oppression.

The ample instrumentals lay the foundation for the lyrics of displacement. The reality of inequality sits at the forefront of this track, and it’s Golshifteh Farahani’s vocals that splice in with the impactful spoken word: poetry for change. ‘Freedom Now’ carries you through the pain of women’s rights, the struggle for freedom that Iran faces and humanity’s rights to reclaim peace; it’s the emotional reality of the need for liberation.

Nick Mulvey, Golshifteh Farahani and Arooj Aftab created Freedom Now’ in partnership with Choose Love, whose work includes supporting community organisations in 33 countries and helping almost five million refugees. Proceeds from this track will go towards their continued work – Choose Love and donate to the campaign HERE
