Bristol-based Billy Nomates releases new track ‘The Test’ ahead of her album ‘Metalhorse‘, out on 16th May

Billy Nomates, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, has announced her new album ‘Metalhorse,’ out on 16th May via Invada Records. Tor Maries promises a concept album surrounding a dilapidated funfair that represents the lawlessness of life. The lead single titled The Test is here. And it’s good.

This rebellious track is pumped full of drums, grungy basslines, synths, and a powerful vocal line. At points in the track sparkling piano notes create a nimble melody that propels you through the song. It takes you up and down, as though on a rollercoaster in the un-fun-fair.

The selling point for the single is really the vocals. Smooth and smokey, Billy Nomates sings with defiance until all at once the chorus erupts into beautifully full layers – kaleidoscopic over the hum of the production.

While it sounds new and exciting, the track, as well as Tor Maries herself can be described as a 21st century Billy Idol: cool, riotous, and driven. It is an alluring amuse bouche to the rest of the project.

Billy Nomates will be playing a series of live shows and in-stores in the upcoming weeks until the album’s release. Catch a ticket while you can – its sure to be a fun time.

New album ‘Metalhorse’ is out on 16th May via Invada Records.
