Black Country, New Road announce long-awaited third album ‘Forever Howlong’ alongside news of a tour and new single ‘Besties’
Following on from their first two studio albums ‘For The First Time’ and ‘Ants From Up There,’ London’s Black Country, New Road have today announced their new record ‘Forever Howlong,’ out on 4th April via Ninja Tune.
While we were treated to the live album ‘Live At Bush Hall‘ in 2023, this will be the first studio offering from the band since the departure of frontman Isaac Wood around the release of the incredible ‘Ants From Up There’. Produced by James Ford (Fontaines D.C., Arctic Monkeys, Blur), the album’s vocals and songwriting will be split between Tyler Hyde, Georgia Ellery and May Kershaw.
New single ‘Besties‘ sees BC,NR violinist and Jockstrap frontwoman Georgia Ellery take the lead on vocals for the first time. The track continues the folk direction of ‘Bush Hall’ with lusher production and a lovely array of new instruments, which erupt once the frantic harpsichord intro subsides.
The songwriting is sweet, with Ellery’s voice innocently but confidently taking control. The track is unpredictable instrumentally and structurally, with gorgeous sax and string flourishes taking you by surprise as they weave their way through. ‘Besties‘ never takes you quite where you’re expecting and, as an opener, it sets the scene for a band that do just the same.
‘Forever Howlong’ is out on 4th April via Ninja Tune.
