It’s that time of the year that festivals start announcing their line-ups and one that is standing out is Boardmasters. We’re still yet to see the full line-up but already we have enough to get incredibly excited about. The headliners Skepta, Kings of Leon and the 1975 had us buzzing but there is also a huge variety of other bands and musicians that have us incredibly excited for the festivals 40th year celebrations.

As more acts get announced there will no doubt be more artists joining this list but this is who cannot wait to see at Boardmasters 2020 (so far).

Allah-Las – Saturday

These guys have been on our radar since we saw their KEXP session in a bike shop. Their chilled out surf-rock had us hooked. Now the band are four albums down and have played to audiences across the globe. If you’re looking for a sprawling musical journey that is draped in psychedlia then Allah-Las should be on your must see.

There really are few few bands that will compliment the sunshine and clifftop setting of Boardmasters as well as these guys.

Sports Team – Friday

Sports team are quickly becoming one of the U.K’s most talked about bands. They’ve become known for their flamboyant live shows and strong opinions of lead singer Alex Rice. He’s the ultimate frontman with that overconfidence seen from the likes of Noel Gallagher.

Their anthemic, tongue in cheek music will no doubt have the whole of Boardmasters up and jumping. It’s indie music for the new generation, a band that are here to have fun, so let’s join them.

Jade Bird – Friday

Jade Bird stunned us all with her self-titled album in 2019. Bellowing vocals matched by honest and heartfelt songwriting captured her audience. Jade carries a retrospective sound similar to greats such as Janis Joplin whilst remaining totally fresh. Her music is beautiful, powerful and totally infectious. Seeing her perform live is going to be a real treat.

Kings Of Leon – Saturday

You really do not need us to tell you why seeing this band is not only exciting but essential. It’s Kings Of Leon, one of the worlds greatest rock bands. There was never a moment that any of us at CLUNK thought we could say we were going to see these rock gods in Newquay. The band have such a brilliant back catalogue of music that this is going to be a real treat. It’s likely they are going to play hits from all albums, ranging from ‘The Bucket’ to ‘Sex On Fire’.

Lianne La Havas – Saturday

Lianne La Havas blends folk and soul with beautiful mastery. Her powerful vocals blast through a soul drenched backdrop, creating a velvety experience. Her music is the ultimate compliment to the sundrenched location of Boardmasters.

FEET – Saturday

We first discovered FEET at Boardmasters in the Net Loft tent in 2018. We were eager to get a taste of that good ol rock n roll and these guys did not disappoint. They came out with their sideways take on the indie rock genre. It’s slightly tongue in cheek with hints of nihilism through the songwriting. Since then the band have exploded, playing at festivals and shows up and down the country. Not to mention a critically acclaimed debut album. If you’re looking to hear something genuinely new and fun then head to FEET at Boardmasters.

The Big Moon – Sunday

The London based quartet first came to be in 2014 and since then they’ve been stunning audiences. Their debut album ‘Love In The 4th Dimension’ earned them a Mercury Music Prize Award nomination as well as many notable live performances. Now in 2020 their sophomore album really shun through, earning huge critical acclaim. It was an album that expanded the bands range and really boasted their songwriting. It’s a fearless release that is beautifully honest. Do yourselves a favour and catch them at Boardmasters.
