Bonnie “Prince” Billy’s ‘Hey Little’ is a quaint, soft and tender package, ahead of new album releasing 6th March.

Kentuckyโ€™s Bonnie โ€œPrinceโ€ Billy, project of Will Oldham, has released the second single โ€˜Hey Littleโ€™ from his upcoming album ‘We Are Together Again‘.

The track is quaint and soft. Opening with Oldhamโ€™s vocals over a gentle, hopeful string instrumental, and underlying female vocals match the male vocals on which emphasis remains. The majority of the song plods on like this, supported by the tender plucking of a guitar and a gorgeous string arrangement. A pleasant clarinet solo, courtesy of Thomas Deakin, begins the descent to the end of the track.

Post-solo the strings are stripped from the track, and Oldham sings alongside a simple guitar track. The strings come back in once more to bring the track to a close.

โ€˜Hey Littleโ€™ is peaceful and harmonious. A beautiful piece of folk music that lands softly on keen ears, the track brings together an array of instruments that work together to create a soundscape reminiscent of youth and happy times. After over thirty years of releasing music, Will Oldham still harnesses the ability to amaze.

Bonnie โ€œPrinceโ€ Billy releases ‘We Are Together Again‘ on 6th March.
