Bonnie “Prince” Billy’s ‘Hey Little’ is a quaint, soft and tender package, ahead of new album releasing 6th March.
Kentuckyโs Bonnie โPrinceโ Billy, project of Will Oldham, has released the second single โHey Littleโ from his upcoming album ‘We Are Together Again‘.
The track is quaint and soft. Opening with Oldhamโs vocals over a gentle, hopeful string instrumental, and underlying female vocals match the male vocals on which emphasis remains. The majority of the song plods on like this, supported by the tender plucking of a guitar and a gorgeous string arrangement. A pleasant clarinet solo, courtesy of Thomas Deakin, begins the descent to the end of the track.
Post-solo the strings are stripped from the track, and Oldham sings alongside a simple guitar track. The strings come back in once more to bring the track to a close.
โHey Littleโ is peaceful and harmonious. A beautiful piece of folk music that lands softly on keen ears, the track brings together an array of instruments that work together to create a soundscape reminiscent of youth and happy times. After over thirty years of releasing music, Will Oldham still harnesses the ability to amaze.
Bonnie โPrinceโ Billy releases ‘We Are Together Again‘ on 6th March.
